WAV stores raw PCM audio data — typically 16-bit or 24-bit samples at 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz — making it the standard format for professional audio editing, broadcast production, and sound archiving. Because WAV is uncompressed, files are large (approximately 10 MB per minute at CD quality), but no encoding artifacts are introduced, ensuring pristine audio fidelity.
