Core Audio Format

This audio file container was created by Apples developers. CAF incorporates a huge amount of information: the artists name, the songs duration, the names of the album and track. In terms of size, files of the CAFformat can exceed 4 GB. After its emergence in 2005, Core Audio Format replaced AIFF and WAV. It has a lower compression ratio, so the quality of audio does not suffer as a result of compression. CAF files are often used to create various sound effects.
